Daum Open ID
Daum launched Open ID Beta service to provide Open ID account to its users in July 13th, 2007. Daum has over 56 million Hanmail accounts. Everyday most of Korean over 7 million people logged in Daum to read their email and news articles.
So it is very big news to Open ID ecosystem in the world. Daum gives a type of http://openid.daum.net/myid URL format as well ones blog URL such as http://blog.daum.net/myid.

Daum Open ID sites is also secures with EV SSL cetificates.

OpenID is great, but somehow it’s very difficult for people without a Korean national ID number or resident alien number to use the Korean Web. In fact it’s so difficult that sometimes I almost think that the Korean web shouldn’t be called “World Wide Web” but rather the “Koreans Only Web.”
For example I really really want to get on Naver and Daum cafes, but even the President of Germany or the Chairman of the Federal Reserve is not allowed to post there because Angela and Ben don’t have a Korea resident foreigner number! I live in California, so I don’t have one either…
Is this correct, or am I — hopefully — wrong? Can I go on Korean forums or am I banned by law?
Thanks!
