Cyworld reveals Web-based Widgets

The Cyworld, now the largest social network service by SK Communications unveiled a test version of its new Web service, called “C2.” The move comes as major domestic portals launch upgraded Internet services that cater to the new web environment. The portals Naver and Daum have also been adding new features to their blog services i.e. Naver Blog Season 2 and Daum's Tistory.com Cyworld is not adding features or revamping its design, but letting people create more Web sites through the same account. Techcrunched: Cyworld and Yahoo! Korea Webzari

Techcrunch reported the launch of Cyworld US and Webzari, visualization service of blogs. The "Zari" means asterism in Korean. It firstly introduced Yahoo! Korea. I'm very glad to see korean web service in Techcrunch. Some of comments for Cyworld US was negative. But, I think now american teenagers are very similar with old korean's teenagers firstly being good at broadband network. SK Communications buys Egloos

SK Communications owner of Cyworld has acquired Egloos for KRW 1.5 billion (US$1.5 million). SK Communications is subsidiary company of SK Telecom, the biggest telecommunication company in Korea. It has four services, 1) Nate.com (portal) 2) Cyword (social networking) 3) NateOn (messenger) over MSN messenger 4) Tong (web page scrapping). Egloos is the leading independent blog service provider in Korea. You can think Egloos is equivalent to Typepad or Wordpress in the US. Cyworld is a South Korean web community site operated by SK Communications, a subsidiary of SK Telecom. Literally translated, "Cyworld" means "relationship world." (via Wikipedia) Members cultivate on- and off-line relationships by forming "first-degree" buddy relationships with each other through a service called "minihompy," which encompasses a photo gallery, message board, guestbook and personal bulletin board.
