Daum launched Open ID Beta service to provide Open ID account to its users in July 13th, 2007. Daum has over 56 million Hanmail accounts. Everyday most of Korean over 7 million people logged in Daum to read their email and news articles. So it is very big news to Open ID ecosystem in the world. Daum gives a type of http://openid.daum.net/myid URL format as well ones blog URL such as http://blog.daum.net/myid. Daum Open ID sites is also secures with EV SSL cetificates.

Interests related to OpenID has been increased in Korea. After myID.net, the first Korean OpenID provider, two providers were opened personal-driven identity service. One of them is IDpia.com by Initech that is very famous of the PKI based security company. The IDpia want to differentiate itself from other services with relationship between OpenID and real-world authentication such as mobile one-time password, personal certification with consumer credit information companies and national PKI system. The MyID.net is first OpenID service in Korea. You can freely make OpenID without using abroad service. It's first prototype of Openmaru Studio that was invested by NCSoft, the Korean famous online game "Lineage" company. The Openmaru studio was started with famous developers from Ajax and Open Source community and product manager from Daum, Naver. They tried to build excellent start-up teams for agile development of Web 2.0 services. Mr. Kwangho Lee, technical manager in Openmaru made a OpenID community and introduction in Korean.
