People said Korea is a grave of famous global companies such as Wal-mart, Nokia Carrefour, Nestlé,and Google. MySpace also quits their business in here. Youtube is not exception. It was opened in one year ago with promotion of Steve Chen, co-founder of Youtube, visited Korea. During one year, Youtube seems nice growth but, it still struggles amang Korean big players. Online Video Market Share in Korea

I introduced various online video sharing sites in last year. Even though Korea was developed in broadband, there were mostly payable VOD and web casting sites in Korea. The video sharing service needed high cost of network bandwidth and server systems including encoding and distribution. So most of service providers mind to enter this market. The integration between desktop and web has been accelerated. For example, Joost and Democracy Player offer online-based content services. They are just media player, but people started to think service. In fact, Itune was successful model for this area although there has been very long competition to become content delivery platform between Real Player and Window Media Player. Softbank invests to TagStory

Softbank Ventures Korea invests 2 million to TagStory. TagStory is the Youtube like online video platform, but its platform is widely used by over 20 offline media company such as Chosunilbo, Seoul Sinmun, Kukminilbo, Hankerey sinmun and Segyeilbo. Mr. Byeonhyun Woo was former reporter of Chosun-ilbo and he has made strategic partnership with old newspaper to produce copyrighted video contents by news reporters. He emphasized there are many problems such as a pornography, infringe the copyright and privacy. in domestic video services over twenty providers. But TagStory.com started copyrighted video embedding in news articles of online news site.
