I introduced various online video sharing sites in last year. Even though Korea was developed in broadband, there were mostly payable VOD and web casting sites in Korea.
The video sharing service needed high cost of network bandwidth and server systems including encoding and distribution. So most of service providers mind to enter this market. After the success of YouTube, many of service providers started to enter this area such as portal sites.

The integration between desktop and web has been accelerated. For example, Joost and Democracy Player offer online-based content services. They are just media player, but people started to think service. In fact, Itune was successful model for this area although there has been very long competition to become content delivery platform between Real Player and Window Media Player.

Softbank invests to TagStory

Softbank Ventures Korea invests 2 million to TagStory. TagStory is the Youtube like online video platform, but its platform is widely used by over 20 offline media company such as Chosunilbo, Seoul Sinmun, Kukminilbo, Hankerey sinmun and Segyeilbo.
Mr. Byeonhyun Woo was former reporter of Chosun-ilbo and he has made strategic partnership with old newspaper to produce copyrighted video contents by news reporters. He emphasized there are many problems such as a pornography, infringe the copyright and privacy. in domestic video services over twenty providers. But TagStory.com started copyrighted video embedding in news articles of online news site.

TagStory is the user-generated video sharing services only classified by user-tagging. It is made by UMC, a branch of Chosunilbo, one of korean famous newspapers.
It has unique characteristics 1) customizing player skins, 2) adding video advertisement so called "story-ads" and 3) offering content distribution platform of existing content owners.
It's one of very early-stage service for video services in Korea.

YouTube opened a Korean-language version site Wednesday, joining the already jam-packed video-sharing Web service market in Korea.
The Korean YouTube site faces a daunting mission in competing against locally grown services from Daum, Pandora TV and Afreeca. Tricky censorship regulations and skeptical sentiment toward foreign Internet firms will also become a hurdle to success for the U.S.-based site in Korea.

The Pandora.tv is a whole new way of watching user-generated video. It gives unlimited personal uploading video space and video live chat. It started as subsidiary of Lettee.com, online greeting card service on Octover, 2004
It has similar interface with Cyworld that has personal diary style with pop-up sized window. In Korea, it is inexpensive cost of upload and download, so many users easily can share their funny and personal video clips.

The BeeDeo.com is Youtube style video sharing service. It means mixing of 'Bee' and 'Encode' and decoding bee produce fruitful and juicy honey everyday with their buddy bees(users). You can feel that it's very good naming by detecting this site.
